The presense of two VPN products is the result of the 'merger'
between Axent and Raptor, and the fact that, prior to the 'merger',
each company had it's own VPN.

Internally, the Raptor VPN was deemed to be the better of the
two, and the decision was taken to pursue that one, and veer
away from the Axent one.

The new product ('PowerVPN' is it?) is designed purely as a
standalone incarnation of the VPN that has been included in
the firewall up until now. The company percieves (rightly so
IMHO) that the ability to disconnect the VPN and the firewall
offers users far more flexibility - for example, the ability
to route a particularly sensitive VPN past a firewall and deep
into a private network for protection beyond that which a
firewall terminated VPN could offer.

The Firewall will continue to be available with or without the
VPN, the VPN is now available without the firewall, and
compatibility reigns supreme, with the RaptorMobile|EagleMobile
product, the firewall VPN and the standalone VPN all
intercompatible.

HTH,

Geoff
