port 777

Greetings everyone,

One of our users  has a need for a software package that
requires access through the firewall on port 777.  I thought
anything below port number 1024 was reserved;  I have
two questions...  Does anyone know what service is running on 777?  
and What are the implications of letting this port through the firewall?
