hi list members. This is one of the mails that i got from a list member who runs a consluting business http://www.bonomi.com Mr Bonomi's views reflect his understanding of the real world. We know since he runs a consulting company he would be in look for helpless people and earn a living on their ignorance. and that 's the advice he gives: " Advice: hire a professional to do the job." however let me take the opportunity to thank all the people who responded and updated their links to cops as well. COPS is a powerful script utility and the reason we were interested was because it is a fine script to learn from as well. It shows how one can write scripts to look for some common security holes etc. I am wrting a utility in WISH on NT platform. however some of the links to cops were outdated and i was having problems compiling it on HP unix. The install on solaris 2.5 and 2.6 went fine and linux (red hat) as well. (BASH shell) Let this not deter the flow of info in this rich and informative list by such comments. --- robert bonomi wrote: > Advice: hire a professional to do the job. > > Your questions demonstrate such an absymal > depth of ignorance that you *SHOULD*NOT*BE* > *ATTEMPTING* this kind of task _at_all_. > > (The matter alluded to in the above para > is _also_ why you're not getting answers > to your repeated questions.) > > > Sorry to be blunt, but there is no polite > way to truthfully address your situation. > > > > > Date: Mon, 8 Nov 1999 10:09:43 -0800 (PST) > > From: Tally > > Subject: cops:reposting again... > > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Mime-Version: 1.0 > > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii > > Sender: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Precedence: bulk > > Status: R > > > > Hi list, > > > > I am reposting again. please let me know your > > expereinces with cops.
