This really does not belong here, the tread should be moved elsewhere... Just wanted
to set some facts straight.

Sounds a bit unlikely. The AMIGA (1000) came in 1985, the A500 1986, and the hard
drive (for the latter) A520 came some time afther that. It was 20MB and cost about
$1000 (in Norway, still I doubt that such a high end solution existed for the C= 64 at
that time, atleast not that cheap) :) We laugh at 200MB HDs now, but before Win 95 it
was "more than enough"

The C= 64 did not have an RS 232 port. It had a user port were you plugged inn the
sampler. You could/can buy a box that plugs in to this (the user port) to give you an
RS-232 port.

I know :) I still play games on my C= 64 from time to time :)

Well, the IDE thing is a hack (You have to make it yourself) But at http://www.cmd.com
you can still buy SCSI disks

There is LUNIX (Little UNIX) for the CBM 64. (Not exacly POSIX etc., but still ;)

Yup, this has been done. Null modem cable and a BBS prog on the C= 64, and then you
telnet in via a linux machine. Also quite a few ppl. that use a terminal program to
connect to a UNIX machine and then use lynx/pine etc. to accsess the net. The C= 64
has even been on IRC. If you dont belive me check out: comp.sys.cbm

I don't think anyone has used it for a firewall yet, but i wouldn't be suprised if I
am wrong ;))

> Long live C= and Amiga... Down with microsoft who destroyed them...

AMEN! :) I still use both my C= 64 (games) and AMIGA(s). The AMIGA is still awesome
for a lot of things: The best mail/news client (THOR) regardless of platform. Small
and efficient web browsers, etc...
