Try the openbsd ftpd,

is a linux version of it, other versions are available.

Not feature rich, but definately secure.

(I'd recommend against proftpd. In fact, about the only other one I'd
recommend [if you had a lot of virtual stuff to do] is wuftpd 2.6.0)
