Hi Marc,
The PIX IOS will accept comment lines. The comment lines must be prepended
with a colon (:). With the PIX, comment lines are simply ignored when the
configuration file is loaded to a running system, but still may be useful
if you use TFTP, or keep a text file of your configuration file.
I compared the PIX behavior to Standard IOS, and the difference is
minimal. I think IOS will keep comments in the running memory - but does
not save comments to flash. IOS comments are prepended with a bang (!)
I'll gladly pass comments on to the appropriate people, as necessary. And
let me know if I've misunderstood something.
