hi

i am trying to connect 2 networks using 2 zyxel prestige 128L boxes. right
now they are on my table, connected with a short cable, and they sync very
well. for those who dont know, these boxes include a 128k sync modem, and a
bridge/router, with LAN port.

configurations are:

network 1: x.x.x.0/255.255.255.0
                      linux box x.x.x.1

prestige 1: x.x.x.100 - LAN - directly connected to network 1
                      192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0 - WAN

prestige 2: 192.168.1.2/255.255.255.0 - WAN
                       y.y.y.1 - LAN - directly connected to network 2

network 2: y.y.y.0/255.255.255.0
                       linux or windows box y.y.y.2

as written in prestige's manuals, no additional routes are required. from
prestige's 1 console, i can ping x.x.x.1, and 192.168.1.2. from prestige's 2
console i can ping 192.168.1.1 and y.y.y.2; from the linux box x.x.x.1 (with
a route add -net y.y.y.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway x.x.x.100) i try to
traceroute to y.y.y.1 it shows: x.x.x.100 , then !S (source route failed).
also a traceroute from y.y.y.2 to x.x.x.100 shows !S
i tried to set up on prestige 1 a route to y.y.y.0 using gateway
192.168.1.2, still the !S occurs.

any suggestions are welcome
