My point (as stated) is that TCP/135 is not listening by default on a
Win98 box, no matter what you do with the networking settings.

Hummm. Making authoritative statements without checking them first, no
comments on this end. ;)

Hummm. This is not what you said the first time around. Your original
statement was:
"Might be a little difficult to remove without rebuilding the kernel"
which implies that TCP/135 is listen by default on Win98 and shy of
hacking the kernel there is no way to stop it. If in fact your second
statement is correct than TCP/135 is _off_ by default and can be
disabled without hacking the kernel if it has been turned on.
