We found that all the blank messages were processing through one site, and that there was only one subscriber from that site, so we removed that user. We will contact that person directly. Unfortunately, in some senses, we recently did some work to the list that improved the processing speed substantially...so errors like this propogate faster then usual, as well as normal list traffic.
