Long time FW follower .. first time question.. I am assisting (spousal obligation) a small office business set up for DSL access. Prime intent is to allow a remote user to telecomute to the internal SCO and Win98 hosts. Secondary intent to allow inside users limited WEB access. Budget (of course) is small, in-house computer expertise nil. The ISP provided a DSL router (http://www.flowpoint.com/) which includes NAT, "firewall" enabled, and capability for "VPN". So far so good. After a quick review of the manuals I believe that the firewall is a simple packet filter (not stateful, not proxy). I cannot determine from the literature or FlowPoint whether the (optional) VPN will connect to anything other than another router of same model. I have not seen any third party security evaluations on this FlowPoint firewall software. I would appreciate any references, suggestions, pros, or cons, of this firewall software. It's not what I would purchase (or build) for a firewall .. but I need to know if it is adequate for the task. I had hoped to use a client such as Win98 PPTP to connect to the router for a secure remote LAN, and deny any other WAN accesses. Thanks, Dave - [To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe firewalls" in the body of the message.]
