Hello,

I'm trying to run a small firewall on a linux box (mandrake 7.0).
I'm using Ipchains, and have one physical interface and three
pseudo-interfaces.

eth0 obtained by DHCP, used for outbound traffic.
eth0:0 fixed IP, runs private services : ssh, imap2
eth0:1 fixed IP, runs public services : http, smtp

I will likely be splitting this by adding at least a second NIC in
the near future, but for now . . .

I basically would like to allow most traffic in and out on the first
port (DHCP). I don't want to allow massive amounts of bad traffic
to this, but do want to be able to use rsync, etc. without
problems. I would like to keep the other two IP's secure, though.

My current firewalling script and more information is at :

http://glock.missouri.edu/firew/

Thanks for any pointers!

  Best, John.
