The IBM Firewall's telnet proxy is not a true TN3270 proxy in that it
doesn't support 3270 terminal negotiation at the front end of the session.
If you are using the Unix x3270 client, try the "a:" parameter in front of
the hostname to emulate ANSI mode until the remote host negotiates 3270
emulation. I'm not sure how you would do this using other TN3270 clients,
but there should be such an "initial ANSI mode" option on most of them.
