Do a:
        man syslogd 

On the unix machine and RTFM.

Set the router to send on specific facilities, set syslog to trap said
facility and push it to a file. 

You do this by entering things like:

local7.*                /var/log/mylogfile

into /etc/syslog.conf

Most Cisco roouters by default log at facility local7 but this can be
changed.
