You need a DNS record to be able to telnet to (or Ping) the box using a DNS "name".
Also, the workstation you are using to telnet with needs to know which DNS server to
use in order to match DNS "name" with it's IP address.

Good Morning All,
I have a question. I have a server up with a valid IP address 126.233.x.x. If I
telnet to the box via this IP address I can get in ok. If I try to telnet to it via
the name of the machine it tells me it can not find it. WHY. I thought that once a
box can be seen it should be seen no matter what?
I am sorry for the dumb question, but I am new to this firewall setup.
Thank you again.
Steven
