I don't have a resource I can send you, but I can have a go at answering
any specific questions.

As a starter you want to work through /etc/inittab /etc/rc.tcpip and
/etc/inetd.conf and strip out all those glorious services that the
developers think that you want.

You also want to disable the CDE, and if you stil want a GUI then get
something like Afterstep ftp.afterstep.org/stable/binaries/

There is obviously a lot more than that to it, and if I can find a good
reference I'll let you know.
