I've thought about this a couple of time. A small part of me agrees with the school of thought that loading Perl or C opens unwarrented opportunities for hackers. A bigger part of me thinks that if your firewall is comprimised to the extent that a malicious agent is able to access a compiler, et. al., you have much bigger problems.
