Hello fellow subscribers, I only post to this group as a subscriber, SPARSLY! This means that I may not be able to answer any questions because of my hectic job schedule. I am not a database engineer either! First: I am not the moderator or co-moderator for this group so please, no flamemail Second: Please do not post database connectivity questions to a firewall lists group Nuff said! (i think) :) Short technology of what I understand about Linux database connectivity: Linux uses database connections via a robust component called CORBA which is very unix-centric (Novell too maybe?). MS's remote database connectivity is done via a component called ODBC (object database connectivity). CORBA is a multi-tier way of database connections whereas it is multi-unix platform centric (as i understand it). I think in order to write to CORBA, Oracle for Unix, there should be development platform API hooks that translate to MS's ODBC components. Learn CORBA! jedi knights and thou shalt see the power of Linux/Unix! Please! no flamemail, no questionmail, no why?mail, no how?mail, no who?mail, no what?mail, no where?mail, no which?mail Yes to -----> moneymail! > > ------------------------------ > > Date: Tue, 28 Mar 2000 11:34:00 -0500 > From: "Lance Ecklesdafer" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: Re: Information ODBC > > I would be interested in ODBC for linux as well. > > Please keep me posted. > > Thanks > - ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Patricia Mina" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Tuesday, March 28, 2000 10:58 AM > Subject: Information ODBC > > > > Hello anyone, > > > > Does anyone know about ODBC on Linux? > > Where can I get it? > > Thanks > > ______________________________________________________ > > Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com > > > > - > > [To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with > > "unsubscribe firewalls" in the body of the message.] > > > > > - - > [To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with > "unsubscribe firewalls" in the body of the message.] > > ------------------------------ > > Date: Tue, 28 Mar 2000 11:43:47 -0500 > From: "Ng, Kenneth \(US\)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: RE: Information ODBC > > Go to http://www.freshmeat.net and search for "odbc linux" > > On Tuesday, March 28, 2000 11:34 AM, Lance Ecklesdafer > [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] wrote: > > I would be interested in ODBC for linux as well. > > > > Please keep me posted. > > > > Thanks > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Patricia Mina" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > Sent: Tuesday, March 28, 2000 10:58 AM > > Subject: Information ODBC > > > > > > > Hello anyone, > > > > > > Does anyone know about ODBC on Linux? > > > Where can I get it? > > > Thanks > > > ______________________________________________________ > > > Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com > > > > > > - > > > [To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with > > > "unsubscribe firewalls" in the body of the message.] > > > > > > > > > - > > [To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with > > "unsubscribe firewalls" in the body of the message.] > ***************************************************************************** > The information in this email is confidential and may be legally privileged. > It is intended solely for the addressee.
