Look up the man page for syslogd. There you will find a way to send log TCP/IP connections to any other computer or device. Here is a /etc/syslog.conf setting for a computer that keeps its own log AND sends the messages to another computer. *.* -/var/log/messages *.* @log.adomain.com log.adomain.com should just accept and log any thing sent to it from this machine nd tag it with the id of the sending machine. You will find that your devices such as routers, firewalls, etc. will have a setting where you tell it to send log info to a machine. You would put log.adomain.com in its setup. Now you have one place where all your log info resides even though a hacker might delete the logs on the main machine. > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Jack Dons > Sent: Sunday, April 16, 2000 5:07 AM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Logs > > > I want to funnel my logs from my firewall and various other > utilities onto > another computer on the network, I am running Mandrake Linux7.0 > does anyone > know of a good way to do this?? > ______________________________________________________ > Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com > > - > [To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with > "unsubscribe firewalls" in the body of the message.] > - [To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe firewalls" in the body of the message.]
