It's worth noting that wu-ftpd has a very poor security history.  The ftpd
that ships with OpenBSD would probably be my current choice.  I believe
that SuSe ships a modified version with their Linux distribution.

I can't think of a good reason to run a non-change root'd ftpd on a
production box anyway, so better to run it under a jail and manage the
users under the jail specificly.
