>From my observations, BlackICE Defender has some many undocumented
features especially when it comes to fine tuning the .ini files, that it
can easily be tuned to monitor applications as well as potential people
attempting to launch kiddie scripts against your personal machine. When I
played with Zone Alarm on a test machine, it generated lots of false
positives until I was able to figure out how to tune it properly, but it
took a while. I also agree if you have lots of apps that need to connect
to the Internet, Zone Alarm will drive someone bonkers.. ;)

I've tried both on my home computers... and they both work ok for
security..... from what I see between the 2 is the configuration. I
REALLY
liked zone alarm because of it's simplicity... but took longer to
configure
because every time an application wants to go to the internet zone alarm
asks you if it can.... so if you have MANY internet apps this may take
time.... however.. it does also allow you to see those apps that trying to
'sneak' access.
