Hello all,

I am not sure if this applies to this list or not, so if this is off
topic, forgive me.

I'm sleeping behind a very convoluted, nonsensical, illogical network
setup (I work for a school district) and I have programs that don't support
the proxy sever that we have, but I need them to run. Since it's not a
SOCKS proxy, I can't socksify them, but I was wondering if there was a
Wintel application that would act as a go-between for my applcations, so
that they would think they have a direct connection. I found and tried
Sockscap before I found out what the mess here is (A CERN machine that
cascades into a SOCKS server which talks to the outside)

   & the rest of our
   Complicated MAN

I do not want to circumvent security, or do anything unauthorized, I just
need some method that works on a Wintel box to make applications that can't
talk to a CERN proxy (or if they do, don't support authentication) be able
to talk through an intermediary program to the proxy chain.

I tried several free/demoware proxy server applications, but since it seems
our network segment won't let you get out if you don't use IP address
supplied by the district DCHP server, I can't get them to work.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated. I would even be willing to
try Unix applications, but windows apps would be preferable, because most
of the sites I have to work on don't have a Unix box.

Thanks in advance,
Chris
