I would suggest:
i) use this incident to raise the secuity profile in your organisation and
with your boss
ii) bring in third party security testers to do an external penetration
test on your systems - you need to find out ASAP all the holes you
currently have (there may be several).
iii) fix your holes, and have another test done - and then get tested
regularly
