hello gurus :),

i'm using PIX 520 with soft release 5.0(3). PIX protects different servers
in several DMZs, but among them there are some mail servers. When I'm
connecting from outside (say, internet) to these servers via telnet to 25
port (smtp), i'm getting strange welcome messages, looking like this:

220
****************************************************************************
***************************

It looks like PIX replaces all characters with stars. In my config I use
default fixup protocols (one of them is smtp with port 25)-Cisco says its
for my safety... but I cannot find in their docs that it should work like
above. When i'm connecting to these servers locally (my station is in the
same subnet like smtp server) i'm getting correct messages (ie, 220 Welcome
to ESMTP server blahblahblabh...).

Is it correct?

I'm a newbie and feel litle confused. Maybe I missed something? can you help
me?

best regards,
Arkadiusz
