This is obviously the default of the card, but can be easily changed by
changing a setting at the prom level and rebooting.  Here is what you have
to do:

# eeprom|grep mac
local-mac-address?=false

# eeprom local-mac-address?=true

and then reboot, you will notice that all interfaces have a different MAC
after this. This should always be done, especially when connecting two
interfaces to the same switch.  Some switch will get very confused by this
default setting.
