There is an http daemon listening at port 2001 on Interceptor firewalls. This service
accepts anonymous connections and presents the user with several utilities
(traceroute, nslookup, X11 proxy, etc.) I have been unable to find any documentation
of this. I spoke with eSoft tech support, and they denied it's existence initially.
Then after about 5 minutes they explained that it was a diagnostic utility for the
administrator. (the admin already has this on the documented service at port 2000)
They explained that it was no big deal, which is true to some extent. But, my question
now is, how many other "features" did they forget to document. I will be performing a
detailed audit today and will post the results. If anyone can steer me in the right
direction to find some documentation on this I'd appreciate it, and will promptly
apologize to eSoft.
