If you really want one, I have one that I might be persuaded to sell.
However, it is defective. And it took four e-mails and four telephone
calls to linksys before I got any kind of response at all. I finally got
some action from them when I called sales and asked to speak to
a supervisor. Apparently, non-supervisory personnel are not
allowed to do anything there.
The problem I'm having is that the clock seems to be running slow.
With the last two versions of the firmware (1.34 and 1.35), it shows
the lease time remaining on the dynamic ip address. The clock
runs at about 2/3 of real time. That is, if you look at the lease time
remaining and it shows 1 hour remaining, then a half hour later, it
will show 40 minutes remaining. The result is that after the two
hour lease time is up (I've been after the cable company to change
that to a week or longer for quite some time), the Linksys
firewall/router thinks that only 1 hour and 20 minutes has elapsed
and so there is 40 minutes more before it has to renew the lease.
But that 40 minutes takes an hour in real time. So, the Linksys
router/firwall thinks it still has the ip address and the cable
company thinks it has expired. Thus, it is up for two hours and
down for one hour unless you reset it manually.
I also don't understand why they wait until the lease is up before
renewing it. No matter how long the lease is, you should try to
renew it well before the time is supposedly up. If they did that, it is
unlikely I would have ever had a problem in spite of a slow clock.
As you can see, I'm not very happy with Linksys and will not
recommend their products to anyone. It's not because that
particular item is defective (either the hardware or the firmware), but
because of their absolute refusal to pay any attention to the matter
until you contact a supervisor.
