I agree.

I wll write a cold fusion database this weekend that would allow visiotrs to
add a product, add a review and rating for a product and perhaps any
corresponding URL for the product. Sound good? What other fields can we
track? Since it would be open for public addition without a review process,
I think that we would need volunteer editors to weed out any unruly
graffitti.

Comments? Volunteers? The simpler we keep it, the faster we'll get it on
line, but I want it to be useful above all. I think we can all (me,
certainly) learn a lot from something like this.

The site, of course, would be non-commercial, refuse advertising and center
around the members of this list. I want a resource, not another page of
spam.

I agree with Daniel that this is a great idea, and one that has been
brought up numerous times on this list. When these questions are received,
it would be nice to be able to refer people to a set URL with all the
information they would need.

Daniel mentioned that his server link may not be fast enough. I run the
SolarisGuide.com website, and would gladly host this information. The
server and its connection to the net should be more than adequate. Perhaps
we could have the old "Which FW is best" discussion (holy war?) one more
time on this list, and then compile the information and post it all up on
SolarisGuide.

Or perhaps a Amazon-like reviewing system might work best? Where all the
popular FWs are listed and people could review/rate them. Average ratings
could be developed, and it might (just maybe) turn into a useful resource.

This is just an idea that I wanted to throw out there. If there already is
such a resource (other than the list archives), I apologize for the
duplication in advance. I just wanted to offer my services.

Later,
John
