I can recommend AG Group's (now WildPackets www.wildpackets.com) TokenPeek
- it is for token ring networks and runs around $600. However, their
ethernet product EtherPeek runs around $1000. I have never used EtherPeek,
but TokenPeek has worked very well for us.

For about a grand you may want to look at SMS ver 2.0. It includes the
enterprise version of Network Monitor as well as a huge inventory of
network
management tools. Take a look at

*I'm tryin to catch me a bandit and I need to add a traffic analyzer to my
*toolbox. Anyone have a recommendation on a LAN protocol/traffic analyzer
*that runs on win2000 that doesn't cost more than my laptop? Perhaps < $500
*
*Also, Is the monitor included in "Advanced Server" any better that the one
*included in Server?
*Thanks in advance,
