Hi,

Has anyone tried to install a PIX506 on a DSL connection using DHCP?
Pacbell has started rolling out DSL line using DHCP to assign IP addresses.
Now the connection has to be initiated by clicking on a proprietary client
installed on the PC. If I want to install a PIX behind their DSL modem, the
question is, how would I initial the connection from the PIX?

If the DSL client works like a "normal" DHCP client, then I believe by
configuring the outside interface with DHCP should do the trick. I have not
tried it yet because I don't have a personal DSL line to try it on, I would
have to go to a user's house to try it. Though I'd poll the group to see if
anyone has done it before.

I know that the new PIX IOS version 5.2 and higher supports DHCP. I have
successfully implemented this configuration on a cable connection with
DHCP. I have also configured the PIX as a DHCP server. Works like a champ.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.
