I called MS on this one. All I needed to do was modify the properties of my NICs for
Proxy/DNS to point to itself 192.X. All my clients were pointing to proxy's/DNS 192.x
already. Then In DNS manager, I didn't add any interfaces but I setup my ISP DNS
servers as forwarders. I setup a zone for the exchange servers domain in DNS manager
mycompany.com on my proxy/DNS server. I created a zone for mycompany.com. Setup an A
record for mail to point to the 192.x and setup an MX record for mail.mycompany.com w/
preference 10. I setup the rest of my a records for the mycompany.com zone to point to
their public IPs. I also setup a reverse zone for 192.x. Everyting started running
fast once this was done.

Thanks for your help!

Subject: Proxy DNS and Exchange Help!

All of our workstations are on the 192.x range. We have a proxy server with 2 NICs
one 192.x and 63.x(public). The proxy server is also our DNS caching server. All of
our Clients use this server for their DNS. Our Exchange server has a 192.x and a 63.x
NIC. How can I add a DNS entry to force our Outlook users to go to Exchange's 192.x.
Our authoritative servers for DNS are our ISP. This is where our Public servers DNS
are pointing including the Proxy/DNS and Exchange server. Currently they are all
going through proxy to the Exchange server 63.x. Sometimes they timeout waiting for a
reponse. Someone else had set this up before. The proxy/DNS machine crashed and was
rebuilt. I thought all I needed to do was add a zone for the exchange servers domain
in DNS mycompany.com on our proxy/DNS server. Setup an A record for mail to point to
the 192.x and setup an MX record for mail.mycompany.com.

Please help!

Thanks,
Rose
