hello,
I think the answer must be simple, but ....

we have a PIX fw with one inside interface and one outside interface.
Currently a small un-managed hub is serving 3 servers on the inside net.
we now have a Cisco 2948G switch to replace the hub. After configuring
the switch with an inside address and
route to the inside gateway, we switch the cables from the hub to the
switch.

the inside systems and switches can see each other via ping. the pIX can
see them, but nothing on the
outside network can see the inside host that had been visible with the
hub. Pinging from the switch out does not work, DNS does not resolve.

Dose the fw need a rule to allow the traffic from the switch to pass in
and out?? Can the
switch be set to a "dumb" mode....

I dropped the hub back in place and the network is working as it was.

thanks for any help,
JEff
