Hi,
PerfMeter gets it's info via RPC (Prog Num: 100001) from the rpc.rstatd
daemon (the daemon itself is launched via /etc/inetd.conf)
If there is any issue with the portmapper or connectivity to the rpc.statd
daemon then the tombstone appears AFAIK.
I'm not sure if PerfMeter first tries RPC then the "commonly known" port
for rstatd, but i guess that could be cleared up by stopping the
portmapper, and seeing if PerfMeter can still get information.
I fully agree with Paul however, it's definatley not a good idea to run RPC
on anything Internet accessible (even with a firewall, unless it has sane
Ingress rules).
Regards,
Chris.
