I have a Linux computer that acts as a mail redirector-all mail that comes to our
organization is inspected bu Linux and then is redirected to specific sites according
to the domain names.
In my firewall log (Checkpoint2000 SP3) I see that Linux tries to contact dns servers
and issues some udp requests to those servers.I don't need any internet browsing or
ftp capabilities on this Linux machine. The udp traffic from Linux is not allowed at
all.
My question is: Does sendmail require any udp traffic to support correct sendmail
operations or udp has nothing to do with sendmail and udp traffic can be safely
disabled from this Linux server?
Thanks.
