SSL is a method alot of people use to substitute their inability to use SSH
for one reason or another.

It depends on what OS you need the software for.
If UNIX then you have a few options, perhaps you can rig up stunnel to
authenticate and establish the SSL tunnel, while you pipe data down the line.
You can possibly use wget to speak the HTTP protocol for you over the stunnel.
(unless wget has SSL support.. I never checked?)
You will need access on the webserver to do a PUT or perhaps a script in some
web-language to take your upload and put it where you want. (If it's a script
you can add even more authentication if you wish)
I've done something similar with a customer, but i only looked after
setting up the server end, the customer took care of the client side stuff.
Anyway, hope this gives you some ideas so you can experiment on your own!
Regards,
Chris.
