Fellow Firewall Fabricators (and list), At 08:00 AM 5/24/2001 +0000, SteveS scrawled: >It seems the only commercial FW product that has a MAC/IP fail over is >FW-1. Actually, a pair of Cisco PIXen in failover configuration share IP and MAC addresses on failover. >There's an annoying gap in FW technology in regard to >redundancy. Actually that's not quite true, I can provide redundancy as >long as I don't mind adding 5X the hardware and $$$$$. Frustrating but >there's only so much I can get done in a 80 hour work week... Agreed. But much of it is due to vocabulary. We vendors are working on failover and load balancing and you seem to want redundancy. When you say redundancy, most vendors (IMHO) think multiple boxes or (to be fair to my esteemed colleagues at companies that make software) licenses. That doesn't really tell us what the multiple boxes or licenses should do. Back at ya!
