Hi NC,
Do it this way:
1. ssh-keygen, this will create identity and identity.pub for you
2. cd $HOME/.ssh
3. cp identity.pub authorized_keys
4. echo "idkey identity" > identification
5. echo "key identity.pub" > authorization
Don't forget about the PERMS too
-rw------- 1 ronneil ronneil 18 May 20 12:23 authorization
-rw------- 1 ronneil ronneil 358 May 20 12:24 authorized_keys
-rw------- 1 ronneil ronneil 16 May 20 12:23 identification
-rw------- 1 ronneil ronneil 554 May 20 12:22 identity
-rw------- 1 ronneil ronneil 358 May 20 12:22 identity.pub
I've tried this on different sshd servers, linux, freebsd, and solaris, it
works.
And also, my PasswordAuthentication is set to no, take note, "no" should be
lowercase
so does for "yes".
