Independence of OS, medium and user - you can transfer the PGPdisk to
Win95, WinNT, CD, ZIP - whatever medium you like to. If you
know/transfer the password, anyone (whom you gave the password) can use
it.
Practical application: sales material distributed to the salesforce.
Because the CD is encrypted, you can cheaply send it out via standard
snail mail. Plus the data does not need to be decrypted manually - the
process is transparent to the user.
Backup is easier and safer, too: the PGPdisk is - after all - just a
plain file. The administrator can backup the whole "disk" without having
to have access to the data itself. Basically you can give everyone
read-access without compromizing security.
Bye
