That's because there isn't a single machine past your local border
router that would have any use for the MAC address of a computer in your
LAN. Everything past the router goes based on IP and netmask (yes, I
know this is over-simplification and not entirely true).

Then again, it's not impossible; you'd just need a mailer that includes
the MAC address in the headers and a mail reader that shows them.
