There's a list of ICSA Certified Firewalls at[1]: http://www.icsalabs.com/html/communities/firewalls/certification/vendors/index.shtml Thre's a link on the same page to a firewall buyer's guide that includes information from most of the same vendors that's available to folks who register[2]. On the free side of things, there's Delegate, Juniper Firewall Toolkit, T.Rex, Zorp and a bunch of Java-based and per-protocol things. I haven't evaluated any of them yet, so I can't give any idea of their ability, completeness or code levels. At home, I use either a slightly hacked copy of http-gw or Apache's mod_proxy depending on what kind of mood I'm in[3]. Paul [1] TruSecure, which owns ICSA Labs is my employer. [2] I'm not sure of physical v.s. logical availability, or how many non-certified vendors participate. [3] I'm not a big fan of interpreted security code- even though modern interpreted languages are normally better protection against programmer error- and most of the stuff I've looked at for replacing those two has been interpreted or more difficult to unbloat. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paul D.
