Hi,
To answer more of your questions.. (I hope this doesnt sound
sales'ish)
A unix operating system (almost) regardless of its variancy is
inherintly more stable
than an NT platform. Nokia IPSO fw-1 runs on a stripped freebsd o/s.
BSD varients are well known for their ability to outperform other
unix
kernels (depending on configuration) in the TCP connection arena..
and having the root filesystem RO makes it inherintly more secure
than running FW-1 on a default solaris install..
Not to mention being very stripped of unneeded (sometimes suid)
binaries.
For a pro Nokia comparison.. try
http://press.nokia.com/PR/200108/832638_5.html
and http://www.nokia.com/securitysolutions/industry_awards.html
High availability is possible.
for some HA information try..
http://www.nokia.com/securitysolutions/network/availability.html
And the web-site with specific information is here:
http://www.nokia.com/securitysolutions/platforms/index.html
I hope this helps,

Subject: Questions concerning Nokia IP
Hello members of the firewall mailinglist, I have a question concerning the
Nokia IP products.
Can anyone of you tell me where to find some in deep information regarding:
- the advantages and disadvantages of the Nokia products compared to FW-1 on
Unix- or NT-plattforms?
- what about high availability with Nokia? Is a better or worse solution
than using FW-1 on a "normal" operation system?
- is there a web-site with specific information about the Nokia products in
the web?
Many thanks for your help in advance!
Frank
