Also, Sun provides a free version of their SunScreen product called SunScreen Lite (http://www.sun.com/software/securenet/lite/). It has reduced functionality but it seems to work fairly well (I haven't used it in prodcution just played with it here and ther). The installation process is a bit envolved compared to ipfilter especially on a hardened system.
Ipfilter has far more functionality and we use it on BSD systems in production environments with excellent reliability. However, there seems to be quite a few posts lately on the ipfilter mailing list regarding problems with Solaris. I personally haven't used it on Solaris for about a year, so maybe others can provide better info.
