Just to close out this thread - Thanks to those who provided suggestions.
The answer was.....

Admin--Settings--System IP Address (WebUI)
set admin sys-ip (CLI)

That little entry isn't even mentioned in the context-sensitive online help
and the information in the WebUI reference simply says to enter an address
and hit Apply (helpful!).

However, if this entry is set to anything other than 0.0.0.0 (I had entered
the internal IP address) then management through the untrusted interface
will not work.

Once Remote administration was working, the custom service entries operated
as expected (problem was a little too much stress on the first problem).

Regarding biases - we all have them - as long as the specific information
provided is truthful and reliable, I don't see a problem. Personally I love
the pixen I have installed, it's simply that this was a $750 need - not
$1,500

regards

Ken

Thanks, but this really nothing new to the list.

I hope you understand that Mr. Clark is a NetScreen reseller. So just as I
would wave the flag for Cisco products; he's got a financial interest in
your choice to go with NetScreen.

Whne folks come to the list and ask for a recommendation I get flamed if I
respond "go Cisco". Steve Clark suggests NetScreen and no one really asks
why.

Carpe diem.

Liberty for All,

Brian
