Bob,

  I've been trying to grasp what it is that you're trying to do, and 
why, and failing.  Apparently, I don't understand the problem that 
this would solve.

  On the off chance that I might not be the only one on this list 
with such a difficulty, could I ask that you briefly describe the 
issue, and why this would be a good way to handle it?
