Questions:

1) Who is the firewall manufacturerer?

2) What is the firewall OS?

3) Where is the syslog host located? (Internal or External as regards to
firewall location)

4) If behind the firewall is 514 udp open?

5) Can you reach the syslog host using the Kiwi syslog generator (the
download is free)

In our test lab the Kiwi syslog daemon does not pick up the firewall
traffic when using a NetScreen that is configured in transparent
mode. However, it does work on the NetScreen(in routed mode), SonicWall
and PIX'ies.
