Here's the big problem with that though. In that thread I was not the person
telling people what they should/shouldn't do or what was/was not good
practice. I never said that I supported or recommended the use of VLANs, nor
did I ever say that one should use separate VLANs or not. In fact, about the
only statement remotely close to those that I made was that I happened to
believe that hubs made great DMZ's. Simply put, I had no skin in that game,
and had no position that warranted me to defend it, as I had not gone out of
my way to condemn or condone a design.

I do not believe that it is wise or prudent to make blanket statements and
generalizations in regards to security design and DMZ layout, as every
situation is unique and different, which means that solutions will often be
unique and different. Consequently, I felt no desire to bite off on
attempting to defend a position that I don't think can be adequately done
under such general circumstances.

If you and Paul are really as aged and experienced as you both purport to
be, I would expect you both to have learned that lesson and that you would
both refrain from making such general statements. Frankly, being "old" is
not a prerequisite or an indicator of experience, skill or competence.
