[Ngh. Resent; this one hasn't made it through in 4 full days now]
Yeah, I know, list management discussions are best kept off-list, but I thought I'd just tell you: If your messages to the list are getting delayed, I don't think it's your fault. (Please, no "me too"s. Noise/signal ratio and all that.) Here's a copy of the headers of one of the messages I sent that got delayed four days. The four-day delay occurs between "lists.gnac.net" and "lists.gnac.net", i.e. MTA -> MLM -> MTA. (The MLM apparently doesn't add any "Received:" headers.) Received: from unknown (HELO lists.gnac.net) (209.182.195.144) by mail.clavister.com with SMTP; 19 Apr 2002 06:21:19 -0000 Received: from lists.gnac.net (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by lists.gnac.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id A6C1810BDA; Thu, 18 Apr 2002 23:29:24 -0700 (PDT) Received: from mail.clavister.com (mail.enternet.se [193.13.79.249]) by lists.gnac.net (Postfix) with SMTP id 52B231053D for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Mon, 15 Apr 2002 05:51:07 -0700 (PDT) Date: Mon, 15 Apr 2002 14:50:55 +0200 .. uneducated guess: the user that runs the mailing list hits its process/RAM/whatever quota, and the two-to-four-day delay is when the local MTA tries delivering the delayed mail to the MLM again? And while I'm up here on the soap box: Don't you guys read the [EMAIL PROTECTED] role mailbox anymore? I've had the distinct displeasure of seeing bounces from the same guy for four weeks now, despite two (or was it three?) reports to you. Okay. I'm done whining now. /Mike Again: Please, no "me too"s to the list. This one message is against list policy enough as it is. -- Mikael Olsson, Clavister AB Storgatan 12, Box 393, SE-891 28 RNSKLDSVIK, Sweden Phone: +46 (0)660 29 92 00 Mobile: +46 (0)70 26 222 05 Fax: +46 (0)660 122 50 WWW: http://www.clavister.com _______________________________________________ Firewalls mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.gnac.net/mailman/listinfo/firewalls
