Hi, I'm working on a paper on IDS: Its a huge topic. But I'm trying to cover : 1.NIDS ( Network Based Intrusion Detection system) 2.HIDS(Host based Intrusion detection)& 3.deception systems(DS). - I understand that DS forms a second line of defence for NIDS - But how important HIDS is in reality? - Is it a lonely scheme, or can it blend with the other two? if so how? - How is HIDS different in analyzing logged data? - which one is effective in terms of space & time?
I do have some info on how HIDS pacgs work, but not much when need to compare with the other two or how well it fits with the rest. Any info or pointers will be appreciated.
