Hey, any product that is build to do a specific or multiple task can be called purpose build... To bad it needs a MS OS's though. If the would come out with a trimmed down OS's especialy for applications like ISA, then I might change my mind. For now, the whole solution has just too many unnecesary layers of code to call it purpose build. > > If you are going for a dual combination anyway, why not get a real > > firewall and a real proxy/cache server? ;) > > Because ISA is all of that? Then why not advice 2 ISA servers, one as a firewall and one as a proxy? If their own best practices says to use a separate firewall to get the best performance? You get the best combination of speed and security when you use the best of breed products in those ranges... I agree it is a great proxy which unbeatable functionality. (within a Microsoft based network) Depending on the market you focus on, it might be the best solution, for me its not. > They might know that ISA is a purposely built, full featured as real > as it gets firewall ;-) Stop calling it that, it hurts! ;) > > OS wise? Phah. > > They build indeed the most supported platforms for applications, > > unfortunatly. > > Kind of funny hold old Unix with at least twice as much time in use has not > been able to grasp that ring... Completely different market. Unix is being used by a minority for specific tasks. Microsoft flooded the market starting with SOHO with the OS's/Applications usable and understandable by everywone. As a developer it's safer to develop applications for Mac OS/Windows than develop for Unix/BSD based OS's... and that is one of the main strengths. Yes, they did win the OS war :) But to say it is a good thing... _______________________________________________ Firewalls mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] For Account Management (unsubscribe, get/change password, etc) Please go to: http://lists.gnac.net/mailman/listinfo/firewalls
