correction: Astaro only ist partially open source.
Open parts are:
        - kernel
        - os
        - filter (netfilter, Linux 2.4)
        - mail-proxy (qmail/exim)
        - http-proxy (squid)

Closed parts are:
        - admin interface
        - AntiVirus
        - Content Scanner

Compared to similar-priced boxes (SonicWall, RapidStream, Netscreen) the
Astaro features fully usable connected networks (not just some nat-ish
bridging and DMZ cripples), fully fledged NAT between all networks (not
just 1:n to external), grouping for network objects and services, SSH
and admin from admin-defined networks (not just from "any internal"),
proper VPN.

Bye
        Volker

PS: all IMHO and personal view, of course
