I'm close enough! ;-) Could you give me some extra info, perhaps? How 'locked' is the shell, e.g. if you start typing does anything show up on screen, is any process actually using the CPU, etc.? What operating system and version are you using? Does the same thing happen if you log in as that user from the console? (Hit Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get a console, Ctrl-Alt-F7 to jump back to the GUI) If you instead start fish as your current user, e.g. type fish in the terminal, does things work?
